Dubai Customs seize thousands of illegal pills

Dubai Customs have seized 8190 illegal medicine tablets at the Dubai Cargo Village bound for the emirate. The tablets were found hidden inside an electronics cargo shipment imported by a local company from an unidentified Asian country. The tablets use or brand was not revealed, but according to Dubai Customs they were drugs that are prohibited for use in the UAE. The Ministry of Health's Department of Drug Control and Registration also confirmed that the tablets were prohibited. The number of defendants have not been revealed but they have been accused of smuggling and violating the federal law regarding pharmaceutical profession and institutions. amustafa@thenational.ae
