DUBAI // Two male prostitutes had their three-year jail sentences upheld by the Criminal Court today.
AS, 22, and AH, 30, both Emiratis, filed an objection to the court's first ruling, issued in absentia, and demanded their case to be heard by a new panel of judges. However, the panel upheld the original verdict.
The pair prostituted themselves by advertising their services on a social networking website.
They were approached by an undercover policeman who noticed their adverts on whoshere.com and they agreed to have sex with him at the Ramada hotel in return for Dh1,500.
Shortly after they arrived, police raided the hotel room and found the pair in various states of undress.
"[The younger man] confessed to being in the room to have sex for money while [the older man] said that he came only to dance," testified a police major.
Prosecutors told the court both men had criminal records featuring prostitution charges dating back to 2007.
Both were charged with prostitution; AH was also charged with promoting sin by posting web pictures of himself cross-dressing.
The men will be placed under police supervision for three years.
