DUBAI // Two male prostitutes were each sentenced to three years in prison yesterday.

AS, 22, and AH, 30, both Emiratis, will be placed under police supervision for a further three years after serving their jail terms.

The pair were caught after police noticed them advertising their services on the social-networking website whoshere.com.

Two undercover officers then posed as clients and the prostitutes told them to meet at the Ramada Hotel, agreeing to have sex with them in return for Dh1,500.

When the hotel room was raided both prostitutes were in a state of undress.

"[The younger man] confessed to being in the room to have sex for money while [the older man] said that he came only to dance," testified a police major.

Both prostitutes have criminal records featuring prostitution charges dating back to 2007.

The Criminal Court found them both guilty of prostitution. AH was also found guilty of promoting sin by posting web pictures of himself cross-dressing.
