DUBAI // A labourer sentenced to 15 years in prison for crushing the skull of a sleeping colleague with a concrete slab had his sentence changed to life in prison - 25 years - by the Appeals Court today.
The Bangladeshi builder AK, 34, was convicted of premeditated murder by the Criminal Court in May this year.
He killed his colleague AG at a villa construction site in October 2011 over an unpaid Dh11,000 debt.
An Emirati man discovered the mutilated body and alerted the authorities. Police tracked the builder to an Abu Dhabi labour camp in Mohammed Bin Zayed City.
The builder will be deported following the completion of his prison term.
