Dubai airline cleaner caught stealing passenger's Swarovski watch

A cleaner for Emirates Airline caught stealing a watch also confessed to police he also stole a mobile phone - three years ago, hears court.

DUBAI // An Emirates airline cleaner caught stealing a passenger's watch confessed to police that he also stole a mobile phone - three years ago, a court heard today.

Prosecutors said RL, a 42-year-old Filipino, was arrested on October 11 when he was found in possession of a Swarovski watch during a security check.

He admitted to police that he stole the watch while cleaning Flight number 147. FB, the 26-year-old Emirati policeman who questioned the cleaner, said that he asked the cleaner if he had stolen anything else.

"He said: 'yes, I stole a mobile phone three years ago and I still have it at home."

The cleaner confessed to two charges of theft and the Criminal Court scheduled a verdict for November 28.
