Driver run over and killed in Dubai after stopping to fix burst tyre

The 65-year-old Emirati was hit by another car driving at 110kph after stopping his SUV in the middle of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to fix the tyre.

DUBAI // A man was run over and killed after stopping his SUV in the middle of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to check a burst tyre.

The 65-year-old Emirati was hit by another car driving at 110kph near to the Fruit and Vegetable Market junction at 8pm on Wednesday. The driver of the car, a 42-year-old Filipina said she swerved to avoid the SUV after seeing its hazard lights, but did not see the man until it was too late.

Traffic prosecutors said the man died instantly. His wife, 50, who was in the passenger seat was too distraught to testify.
