Debtor told lender's wife he would 'send their corpses back to India'

"Call and ask for the money again and I will kill you, your husband and your children," a debtor told the wife who had called repeatedly to ask for her husband's money back.

DUBAI // "Call and ask for the money again and I will kill you, your husband and your children," a debtor told the wife who had called repeatedly to ask for her husband's money back.

SR, a 32-year-old Indian, did not appear in court today to face charges of issuing threats of murder to the wife RSA, 32, assaulting the married couple and endangering their lives.

She told Dubai Criminal Court today that SR borrowed money from her husband HM, 34. When she called to ask for it back, he said he would kill them and send their corpses back to India.

He followed up his threat with a visit to their home on July 19, she said. "When he entered the apartment, he locked the door then headed to the gas cylinder and opened it, and said that he wanted to burn us all.

"He then grabbed my husband and put a knife to his throat," she said.

The woman fought back to save her husband and, in the process, cut her hand.

The next hearing will be on March 6 to summon the defendant.
