DUBAI // A 47-year-old executive manager threatened to kill a former business partner, a court was told this morning.

The American executive, NY, threatened to kill DA in a public place after DA broke off the partnership between the two. He denied the charges in the Criminal Court of First Instance.

NY is also facing separate charges of insulting DA publicly. He will be referred to the Court of Misdemeanours.

Records show that in October 2010, last year the two men met at a restaurant to discuss their business relationship.

DA, 47, Iranian, testified that they used to be partners in a restaurant in the Gardens area, but he ended the partnership. He did not elaborate on the reasons for doing so, but said that during the discussion, NY threatened to kill him if he did not make him a partner again.

He added that NY told him he would harm his businesses and assault him through powerful people in the UAE and Iran.

DA testified that NY insulted him in front of many people at the restaurant, calling him he a crook, a thief and a liar.
