A cook who threatened to rape and dismember a man in a series of WhatsApp messages will be deported after being given a suspended prison sentence.
The Sri Lankan man, 36, threatened to kill an Indian national unless he stopped having an affair with his wife, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
In October last year, the accused claimed he would rape the man and then cut off his penis before killing him. He also threatened to rape the man's mother, court records showed.
"I will cut off your manhood and I will kill you at Mercato Shopping Mall," he claimed in one of the messages.
Worried that the cook would carry out his threats, his victim reported him to Al Rafaa Police Station.
The cook was arrested and had his mobile phone seized. During police questioning, he admitted to sending the messages.
Appearing at Dubai Criminal Court, he was sentenced to a suspended three-month jail term to be followed by deportation.
