DUBAI // A woman facing forgery charges has now been charged with contempt of court after a judge said she made inappropriate remarks to him.

The 25-year-old AD, from Morocco, was taken into custody after Judge Fahmy Mounir Fahmy announced the new charges. He said she mumbled insulting words and made a fuss in courtroom four.

The woman was heard saying "take me to detention, it's better than sitting here." AD was accused of forgery after prosecutors said she presented a false ID to a police officer at Rashid Hospital.

She was taken to the hospital after a fight with another woman who was not identified in court records.

"She pushed me hard and pulled my hair," said AD in her testimony.

The verdict will be announced on October 5.
