DUBAI // A cleaner helped an air hostess with her bag as she walked to her flat then sexually assaulted her, a court was told yesterday. The 24-year-old woman was attacked at her home in Platinum Tower, Dubai Marina, on May 1, court records said. The woman told prosecutors that SS, 27, an Indian, offered to carry her bag when she arrived home.
After she was helped by the man, she gave him Dh20 and he offered to assist her whenever she needed, the woman said. "He gave me his number and, as I turned my back to him entering the flat, he grabbed me and pushed me into the house holding my breast," the woman said. SS then attempted to kiss the woman but was pushed away and fled after she screamed, records said. The cleaner returned to the house, allegedly to apologise, but attacked the woman when he saw her attempting to use the telephone. The woman fought off SS and pushed him out of the flat, records said.
S S admitted molesting the woman, but denied attacking her. A verdict is due to be issued next week. amustafa@thenational.ae
