DUBAI // Two tourists charged with threatening a businessman and demanding money were sentenced to six months in prison each to be followed by deportation.

The Dubai Criminal Court heard that Britons MB, 52 and AM, 49 sent threatening emails to SH, an Indian businessman aged 30.

The emails were sent on June 25 and 28 of 2011.

One sent by MB read: "Make sure that I know many law acquaintances and others to help me in this case, I'm asking you for money and if I don't get it I will cause harm to you and your family, my people in Mumbai will make sure of that."

AM sent an email stating: "Do the right thing or you will deal with bad consequences due to MB's anger, you and your family will suffer severe torture as MB decided to take revenge."

Records mentioned that the two men had business with SH's father. The exact nature of the business was not specified.

SH said the two defendants also threatened him during telephone calls and demanded he buy goods from them.

Prosecution records stated that the defendants confessed to sending the emails during interrogation.
