Boy assaulted at sword-point, court told

Man and teenager threatened him before raping him, prosecutors say.

DUBAI // An unemployed 23-year-old man this morning denied sexually assaulting a boy after threatening him with a sword.

The stateless man BH told the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance that he was being framed.

"They sent a number of men who beat me up, your honour," he told Judge Fahmy Mounir Fahmy, pleading for a court-appointed lawyer. "I can't afford to hire a lawyer. I would appreciate if the court could assign one for my defence."

BH and a juvenile, facing charges as a minor, sexually assaulted HH after beating him up and holding a sword to his neck, records show. BH admitted to a separate charge of drinking alcohol.

BH told the court that the men who beat him up to frame him ripped off his clothes and took pictures of him for blackmail. He said he had a medical report backing up his story.

The court asked him to present his defense on June 12.
