Boy, 10, raped on way home from school

A man took a 10-year-old boy who was returning from Quran school to an abandoned house and raped him, a court hears

DUBAI // A man took a 10-year-old boy who was returning from Quran school to an abandoned house and raped him, a court heard yesterday.

The boy was also sexually molested by AA and two other men the next day, prosecutors told the Dubai Criminal Court show.

They alleged that AA, 21, a salesman from India, met the child about 5.45pm on March 26 after the school bus dropped him off.

They say he took the Indian boy to an abandoned house and raped him, gave him Dh10 and threatened to hurt him if he told anyone.

The next day MH, 40, a barber, met the child about 2pm and took him to the same house before molesting him, the court heard. He also gave the boy Dh10 and warned him not to tell anyone.

The boy told prosecutors that after this, AA sexually assaulted him for a second time before giving him 50 fils and telling him to leave.

The prosecution says a driver, NA, 42, molested the boy on the same day - this time in NA's home, which was in the same neighbourhood. He also allegedly gave the boy Dh10.

The day after the three assaults the boy left his home to travel to the Quran school but stopped before he got there as he felt exhausted.

His father found him after the school called and told him his son was not there.

"I went out to look for my son and I found him behind a supermarket," the boy's father said. "I also found [some money] on him so I asked him where he got this from and he said that these three men had given it to him."

AA was charged with rape. MH and NA, who are also from India, were charged with molestation.

Yesterday's court proceedings were held in private. The case was adjourned to June 19.
