ABU DHABI // A judge ordered the arrest of a defendant who complained he could not afford to eat or drink while released on bail.
NK, from Pakistan, complained to the Criminal Court that his passport had expired while he was out on bail and that he could not live without it, adding that he was struggling to find shelter and food.
Chief Justice Sayed Abdul Baseer, head of the court, ordered his arrest. "Now you can eat and drink in jail as you wish," he said.
The man is accused of adultery and impregnating a woman who was not his wife.
