DUBAI // Two men were charged yesterday in the Criminal Court of First Instance with stealing spare car parts worth Dh345,000.

Prosecutors accused the Indian, RS, 26, with stealing the parts from his workplace in Oman and selling them to a company in Dubai. He was also accused of forging purchase orders and five receipts, which he presented to his employer to cover his trail.

The second man, SJ, 34, is accused of knowing about the thefts and purchasing stolen goods. He confessed, according to prosecutors, to buying the parts for prices six per cent cheaper than those on the open market.

The manager of the car parts company in Oman told prosecutors that RS worked as a sales supervisor for customers in Dubai.

RS confessed to investigators and said he had an agreement with SJ to sell to him all the parts he managed to steal. The two men were apprehended by officers from the Jebil Ali police station.

The next hearing is scheduled for February 17.
