An arsonist-for-hire admitting torching nine vehicles in return for cash.
The unemployed Pakistani raked in Dh1,200 for setting fire to nine vehicles - all belonging to a private construction company in Jebel Ali, Dubai - in two separate attacks.
During the first incident, on July 26 of this year, the 23-year-old poured fuel on a lorry and engulfed it in flames by using a lighter.
The fire spread to two buses, two cars and a van, destroying all of the vehicles.
He was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The man was later arrested by police and admitted carrying out the arson, as well as a second crime, in which two Mercedes trucks and a Toyota bus were damaged, on June 30.
In court, he admitted to arson charges and is due to be sentenced on December 17.
