DUBAI // A drug addict today told the Dubai Criminal Court that he was arrested one day after he started treating himself from addiction.

SE, a 32-year-old Omani, confessed to presiding judge Hamad Abdul Latif that he had been taking drugs for "a long time", but said that on April 22 he came from Oman to Dubai to start a treatment to help him quit.

"I started the treatment by myself and used smaller doses of drugs to ease the withdrawal symptoms," he said.
