Abu Dhabi man accused of stabbing brother says he was framed by sister

The two brothers share the house with three siblings and two parents and the attack was reported by the brothers' sister, F.

ABU DHABI // A man accused of stabbing his younger brother claims he was framed by his sister.

Prosecutors told the Criminal Court that AH, 26, from Somalia, was drunk when he returned home drunk at dawn and stabbed his brother four times.

They said he found the younger brother HH, 23, in the kitchen preparing food and started insulting him.

"I only laughed," said the younger brother, who said his sibling came up from behind before stabbing him three times in the back and once in his abdomen.

When the judge asked what could have prompted the attack, the younger man replied: "I don't know, he has hated me since we were kids...I always make up with him by kissing his forehead."

The older brother denied charges of assault and drinking alcohol.

"The memo you have of my confession was written under threat and severe beating by CID," the older brother told the judge.

The two brothers share the house with three siblings and two parents and the attack was reported by the brothers' sister, F.

The judge said he would adjourn the case so that the sister could be brought to testify as she was the one who reported the matter, but the older brother objected, claiming the younger brother and the sister had colluded to frame him.

"My sister was not even there, my older brother was the one present and who saw everything."

The younger brother confessed to a charge of drinking alcohol.

The case was adjourned to February 20.
