There is something that draws us to ruins, no matter if they are Egyptian, Roman or Aztec, we as humans are captivated by them. Such strong links to lives that have gone, things that have passed, makes the mind work to fill in the blanks among the physical remnants of such sites.
When photographer Christopher Pike brought a few photographs back from one room of this abandoned building in downtown Abu Dhabi I wanted to see more. It was not the building itself that caught my imagination but rather the small personal items that were left behind. These items give us a glimpse of the lives that once filled this building but were obviously not seen as important enough to load into the packing boxes.
