Features has taught me so much

Looking back over the last two months in the features department has taught me lots of things, it is not just the work that has to be done, it is how I do my work, how I get my stories out, how I write it to send the right message.

I am thanking myself for trying this department, not because it is a slower pace on writing stories, but because I developed ideas and tried writing different things. Without my strength I would’ve not done what I have.

I have written a blog for Arts and Life about the Motley Crue concert at Yas Island and a movie review on a documentary about revered football player Cristiano Ronaldo.

I was a little unfamiliar with how to write a movie review, so I looked online to grasp ideas on how it should be written. I enjoyed writing the review, not because I am a fan of Ronaldo but it is enjoyable to learn how to be a critic and a stronger writer.

I have done couple of other stories in the past two weeks. One that I am looking forward to seeing published is about an Emirati who is passionate about classic cars, and owns one. The man has been taking care of the car, and he told me that it is very hectic and time-consuming but if you are passionate and devoted to it that’s all what matters.

I learnt that when you put your mind into something it will happen.

I believe the article is not just about him being unique for loving his classic car but it is about devotion as well — when a person is a devoted to something, they would work on it. In the end, whether it’s work, or social life or whatever we are surrounded by us, to help a person grow and the fact that I am learning a lot of things in and outside of work has made me see things in a different perspective.
