DUBAI// Cloudy skies will signal a drop in temperatures over the next few days as the intense summer heat slowly begins to fade.
Temperatures at night are expected to be around 23° Celsius in coastal areas from Monday evening and that will likely continue until Wednesday.
Weather forecasters at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) say the chance of scattered rain is also likely to increase in northern and eastern regions in the coming days.
"The rain will be associated with the increase in cloud cover over the mountains," said an official at the centre.
"Day time temperatures along the coast will still be relatively hot at a maximum of about 37° Celsius but they could drop a few degrees with the extra cloud cover."
Inland, the daytime temperature could still hit 40° Celsius he warned, but could fall to as low as as 17° Celsius at night.
"Despite the cooler night temperatures it will still feel a little uncomfortable because the humidity will still be high at around 95 per cent," he said.
The extra cloud is being caused by a weak trough coming in from the east in the upper air and low pressure on the surface.
"Although the weather is a little cooler winter doesn't start properly until December, although temperatures will start to fall slowly until then," he added.
