Municipality officials issued 14 fines to residents and landlords of commercial buildings illegally housing tenants.
Some 96 buildings in Bani Yas Sharq, Shawamekh, Wathba South, Bani Yas West, New Wathba Shamkha and Wathba North were inspected as part of a campaign by Abu Dhabi Municipality to clamp down on crowded accommodation.

The UAE's residential laws set a limit of three people per room and prohibit makeshift partitions subdividing rooms.
The Municipality said the campaign is also intended to maintain the aesthetic appearance of the city and ensure the highest standards of health and safety.
Offenders of the capital's residential laws face fines of between Dh10,000 and Dh100,000. Repeat offenders are fined no less than Dh100,000 and no more than AED 200,000.
In repeat cases, the court may order the removal of the offender at the expense of the landlord..
