After weeks of gracing billboards across the UAE, Salman Khan finally made the public appearance his fans had been waiting for yesterday.

The Bollywood megastar was greeted by a sea of people at Mall of the Emirates and at Deira City Centre, some of whom had been waiting for many hours.

He was visiting Dubai to promote the launch of his watches and T-?shirt fashion line, Being Human, being held at the retailers Splash and Iconic.

Proceeds made from the collection benefit Being Human – The Salman Khan Foundation, a charitable organisation with partnerships to benefit healthcare and education initiatives in Mumbai.

The foundation has partnered with Marrow Donor Registry India to create a registry of marrow donors in India for patients who have blood-related illnesses such as leukemia, thalessemia, aplastic anemia and congenital immunodeficiency.

“I want Being Human to reach as many people as it can and benefit as many people as it can, so we will reach out to the public in multiple ways,” Khan said. “Clothing is just one of them.”

“He was very charming,” said Rabeeya Moin, who saw Khan in Mall of the Emirates while on holiday.

“There was a child with special needs and Salman met him with such love and compassion. That’s why he remains our most beloved Bollywood star.”

Khan arrived in Dubai  following his trip to Singapore last weekend, where he missed out on the best actor gong at the annual International Indian Film Academy Awards for his role in Bodyguard, last year's highest grossing Bollywood film. He joined Shah Rukh Khan in losing out to Ranbir Kapoor for Rockstar.
