A butchers shop has been shut down in Ras Al Khaimah for violating health and safety regulations.
Its closure came after a video was circulated by an Emirati showing an unsafe method of transporting meat.
The Veterinary Control Department at RAK municipality immediately launched an investigation into the incident and took the decision to close the store.
Substantial quantities of meat were seized and sent to the municipal laboratory for analysis.
Shaima Al Tunaiji, manager of the public health department, said investigators managed to identify the meat supplier involved.
“We will leave no room for anybody to endanger public health and cause harm to consumers," she said. "Public health and safety is our priority.”
