A British man fell to his death while hiking in the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah on Friday.

The man was among three other Britons who were hiking in the mountains before getting injured and becoming stranded in the Al Manaie area, bordering Oman.

One of the hikers called police who dispatched a helicopter from the National Search and Rescue Centre. It airlifted the group to the nearest hospital.

The British hiker, who was seriously hurt, died before the helicopter arrived at Fujairah Hospital.

Police urged the public to avoid hiking in dangerous areas without a guide and not to venture out to the mountains unless already experienced in climbing.
