Boy reunited with parents after school bus attendant 'loses him' in Dubai
Boy wanders off school bus after attendant leaves him unattended
A boy has been reunited with his family after he was found wandering alone in Dubai International City after school on Tuesday.
Police said the boy, 5, had been left on his school bus by the attendant, who was dropping other children off at their homes.
Believing he had been forgotten, the boy disembarked the bus and began walking home.
A police patrol, dedicated to patrolling areas near schools, found the boy carrying his school bag and wandering around the residential area.
“The boy was taken to Al Rashidiya police station where he was identified through his belongings inside his school bag,” said Brig Saeed Al Malek, director of the station.
He was left in the care of social specialists until his family collected him from the station.
Police summoned the boy’s school principal, bus driver and bus attendant after investigations revealed that they had been negligent.
Brig Al Malek said “all necessary measures have been taken” though he did not elaborate.
He said neglecting children is a punishable crime, according to the federal child protection law.
The boy’s family thanked police for finding their son so quickly.
