A boy drowned at a beach in Ras Al Khaimah on Friday while another was rescued.
A 14-year-old Yemeni, identified as Saleh Al Yafei, died after being dragged out to sea by strong currents and turbulent waves, which forecasters warned would reach heights of up to 2.5 metre last weekend. He was swimming at a beach in Al Dahan with another boy, 12, who also began to be tired while swimming.
A nearby family, who saw the boys struggling in the water, called police at 4pm.
The Asian boy was saved but Saleh could not be resuscitated by paramedics and was pronounced dead when he was brought to the hospital.

He was buried on Saturday after Al Dhuhr prayers at Al Flayah Cemetery.
The case was transferred to prosecutors for legal action.
Brig Gen Dr Mohammed Al Humaidi, Director General of Central Operations at RAK Police, reminded families to keep a vigilant eye on their children while they swam.
He also advised them to avoid the beach during rough conditions.
The case was referred to the competent authorities to complete the legal proceedings.
In August, a 21-year-old Emirati man drowned in Fujairah while his younger brother was saved after the two were found near the marina.
