DUBAI // UAE fans of the Bollywood movie star Shah Rukh Khan can pick the songs they want him to dance to at a concert planned for the end of the year.

Khan will kick off his world tour, Access All Areas, on December 1 at the 25,000-capacity Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

“The audience can tell us what songs they want to see and hear through audience polls, newspapers, radio events that will start soon,” Khan, in Dubai shooting the Hindi-language movie Happy New Year, said yesterday.

“We want it to be interactive so some people who win events can come backstage and meet the artists and see what goes into making a live show.

“They will realise it’s not all fun and games and they will have access to some of the excitement that goes on behind the scenes.”

Khan also promised to choose people from the audience and have them join him on stage.

His Happy New Year co-star, Deepika Padukone, will also perform at the concert.

“I’ve never done anything interactive like this before so I’m really nervous,” said Padukone, who last starred with Khan in the blockbuster Chennai Express.

Both assured fans that they would perform some of the movie’s most popular tracks during the December concert.

“We will do the lungi [Hindi for loin cloth] dance from Chennai Express. One hundred per cent we will do that dance,” Khan said.

The show, his first Dubai concert since 2008, will also feature other top Bollywood actors and singers along with more than 100 dancers, choreographers and sound artists. The list will be finalised within weeks.

Although the theme has not been picked, Khan said the concert would include his pick of songs and dances from his many box-office hits.

“I have been wanting to do something big, an all encompassing show in Dubai, for some years now and that is what I hope to do with this live event,” he said.

“I have not been on a world tour for a long time and it is only right that I start it in Dubai.”

The concert is organised by Duvent, part of Meraas Leisure and Entertainment.

Tickets will go on sale from Thursday noon at www.ticketmaster.ae.
