Body of Emirati man swept away by floodwater in RAK recovered
The body of a 22-year-old Emirati who was swept away by surging floodwater in Ras Al Khaimah has been found.
Hassan Rashid Al Shamala’s vehicle was swept into Wadi Hakal, in the Shamal area, on Sunday and friends dived into the water in a desperate attempt to find him.
After hours of searching by a 130-member UAE Search and Rescue team, his body was found on Monday morning at a palm farm.
Acting upon the instructions of Lt Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the team headed for RAK at 2am on Monday to provide support to RAK Police to find the missing man. The team extended their condolences to Mr Al Shamala’s family.
