Kayaking companies operating in the tourist hotspot had to halt tours earlier this week as 'forensic investigation' was under way.
Body found in Eastern Mangroves, Abu Dhabi police confirm
ABU DHABI // Police today confirmed that a body has been found in the Eastern Mangroves.
On Tuesday, kayaking companies that operate in the tourist hotspot were told to stop tours as a "forensic investigation" was under way.
School pupils from Al Muna Primary, on Hamdan Street, were among those who had turned up on Tuesday morning at the protected marine environment only to be turned away.
This morning, a police spokesman eventually confirmed the rumours that a dead body was the cause of the investigation.
The statement said: "Abu Dhabi Police can confirm that a body was found and that the cause of death is currently being investigated."
Caline, who works for Noukhada Adventure Company, which organised the Al Muna trip, said on Monday: "The police were conducting a forensic investigation in the area so asked us to leave the place."
The woman, who did not want to give her full name, added: "The investigations will continue for the next two to three days, so we will not be able to hold any kayaking sessions at the mangrove and therefore we are moving our destination to Yas public beach."
