Firefighters managed to contain a huge blaze that broke out in Sharjah's industrial area six on Friday.
The infermo started just before 4pm and Sharjah Civil Defence swiftly dispatched firefighters to the scene.
Emergency services said it was brought under control by 5pm.
Residents posted pictures on social media of the plume drifting across the sky.
Even people living in Dubai were able to see the smoke clouds.
No injuries were reported.
Authorities did not clarify what caused the blaze but numerous fires have broken out in the sprawling area over the past few years.
Last January a fire broke out in a furniture warehouse in the industrial area, gutting the building.
