Two men have been arrested for forgery on suspicion of selling signed blank cheques to a man for Dh13,300. The cheques belonged to a company that had closed down, and were not cashable.
The suspects, MDO, a 28-year-old archive clerk, and DHQ, a 35-year-old electronics technician, were arrested in a police ambush at a petrol station on the way to Al Sila in the Western Region. The accomplices had 38 blank cheques, which they allegedly planned to sell for Dh350 each.
Police said the men confessed and claimed they worked with a third accomplice, whom officers are looking for.
