Bird photography competition at Dubai sanctuary

Dubai Municipality is inviting photographers to submit pictures of birds taken at the Ras al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary between April 6 to 30.

DUBAI // A photo competition began on Sunday on the subject matter of migrating birds.

Dubai Municipality is inviting amateur photographers to submit pictures of birds taken at the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary to April 30.

There is a prize of Dh2,600 for the winner of the competition, with a second prize of Dh2,000 and Dh1,500 for third.

“The contest is aimed at creating awareness on the importance of migratory birds and their protection in the environment,” said Aisha Almurr Al Muhery, senior education and awareness officer at the environment awareness section.

A photographer can enter five pictures. However, they should not have won any previous awards or previously had a photograph published.

Each entry should be submitted on a CD with a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Each photograph will be given an entry number. The name of the photographer should not appear on the face of the entry.

Deadline for submission of entries is April 30 at 2.30pm.
