Sad the long weekend is done? Well you don't have to wait too long for the next public holiday.

The UAE is about to come into the season of holidays — for those who work in the public sector, at least.

The Prophet's Birthday this year falls on or around Monday, November 19, meaning both the public and private sectors will get a day's holiday. An exact date will be confirmed closer to the time.

Commemoration Day, which honours Emiratis who died in the line of duty, will be a holiday for the public sector only as it is to be held on Friday, November 30.

Next up is National Day, which celebrates the anniversary of the unification of the Emirates. It will be marked on Sunday, December 2, so there will be a long weekend for both the private and public sector and the latter will likely get more than one day's leave.

Public sector employees will likely receive an additional day off on December 3, but the official dates will be announced closer to the time.

Then the countdown to the New Year begins, with January 1 permanently set as a public holiday.
