Baby girl who fell from 10th floor of RAK building is out of coma
One-year-old Leen Farghali continues to make miraculous recovery
A baby girl who fell from the 10th floor of an apartment block in Ras Al Khaimah is continuing her remarkable recovery.
Little Leen Farghali, who is 19-months old, suffered severe injuries after falling from the living room window of her family home, landing on the windscreen of a car parked below, on Sunday, February 17.
She was rushed to Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, where she received treatment for multiple fractures and severe head trauma in an intensive care unit before being airlifted to Tawam Hospital in Al Ain last week for further treatment.
Now Leen is out of a coma and able to breath without the need of a respirator.
Doctors believe the vehicle broke her landing and may have saved her life.
Dr Nidal Al Hashaykeh, the treating physician and head of the paediatric intensive care unit at Tawam Hospital, said that Leen has is responding well to treatment.
"Thanks to God, the child Leen showed a marked improvement and a good response to the treatment," said Dr Al Hashaykeh.
"She has recovered from her coma and was removed from the artificial respirator, but still needs more time to complete her treatment and rehabilitation."
Leen continues to receive round-the-clock care from an expert team of doctors at the hospital.
On Monday, Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence said that the window the girl fell from did not meet minimum safety requirements and revealed plans to conduct safety checks on windows across the emirate.
