An eight-month-old boy died and three of his family members were injured in a house fire that broke out in the eastern area of Bani Yas.
The boy died from suffocation after inhaling too much smoke. The severity of his family’s injuries was not disclosed.
Abu Dhabi Civil Defence said they received a report about the blaze and immediately sent firefighters to the site — on the outskirts of the capital.
An investigations into the cause of the fire is under way.
Civil Defence called on residents to ensure their homes and businesses comply with fire safety codes and cautioned members of the public against gathering around fires and other accidents, saying the act hinders rescue efforts and endangers spectators.
