ABU DHABI //School pupils and university students met the Emirati artist Hassan Sharif this week at his latest exhibition, Experiments and Objects.

The 60-year-old Dubai resident said sharing his passion with the next generation of artists was one of his greatest contributions to the UAE.

"I have always said education has been, and will continue to be, one of the most important aspects of my career as an artist, and I have been delighted to talk with local students this week," Mr Sharif said. "Working closely with youngsters to develop, encourage and promote their talents will always be my commitment to the local arts scene."

Mr Sharif was one of four men who in 2007 set up The Flying House in Dubai to promote contemporary Emirati artists.

Mohammed Khalaf al Mazrouei, the director general of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, which oversees the exhibition, called Mr Sharif "an inspiration".

Experiments and Objects showcases Sharif's works from 1979 to 2011 and runs at Qasr Al Hosn Cultural Quarter Hall until June 17. It is open seven days a week from 10am-10pm.
