ABU DHABI //Art and racing come together this week for "The Art of Racing Galleria", an exhibition featuring 13 international artists who created artwork inspired by motorsports.

Part of the Yasalam festivities, the exhibition opens today at the Ghaf Gallery and will be free to public.

Art Rotondo, a Canadian painter who uses racing helmets as his canvas, is in Abu Dhabi for the opening.

"I grew up in Formula One, and I have a big passion for it," Mr Rotondo said. "I took my skills, and I applied it to the thing I loved the most. And I loved the idea of bringing Formula One to Abu Dhabi, to inform people about the passion of motorsport racing."

The art on display includes paintings that were made by soaking the wheels of remote control cars in acrylic paint and four pieces created using Rubik's cubes.

"The fascinating thing about this exhibition is that it's just a delight for anyone who goes there," said Jalal Luqman, the co-owner of the Ghaf Gallery. "I think people will see there are no limits to creativity."

The exhibition will also include photography and video footage, sculptures made from mechanical motor parts and live performances. More than 80 works by pupils from local schools will also be featured.

The display is open to the public until November 14 and will be open from Saturday to Friday from 9am to 1pm and 5pm to 9pm.
