DUBAI // An American singer-songwriter who has toured with Kelly Clarkson and Jason Mraz and appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno is bringing his talents to the UAE.

Eric Hutchinson, who recently recorded his second album, Moving Up, Living Down, will headline an evening of entertainment at Dubai's Barasti bar, at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi hotel, on February 25.

Hutchinson, 30, describes his upbeat style of pop/rock as having the "positiveness" of Stevie Wonder and the "cerebral lyrics" of Paul Simon.

"Songwriting is the part of my work I take the most pride in," he said.

"When I perform, I like to put on an old-fashioned show with a lot of energy and audience interaction. I like to make people dance."

Speaking from Los Angeles, Hutchinson said he wanted to take in some local culture while he's in the emirate.

Hutchinson will share the bill in Dubai with James Walsh, a member of the British band Starsailor.

Tickets, which cost Dh225, are available at www.livinthemusicdubai.com.
