Alleged drug dealer denies biting police officer's finger
The 42-year-old man defendant insisted incident 'didn't happen'
A 42-year-old man accused of almost biting off a policeman’s finger has denied multiple charges against him.
Dubai Criminal Court heard how the Filipino defendant refused to admit he had physically assaulted the officer on July 4 last year.
Police were called to the man’s home in Al Qouz following a tip off that he was a suspected drug dealer.
But when trying to arrest him the accused grew aggressive, biting the finger of an Emirati second lieutenant.
“He sold crystal amphetamine and one of his customers, who we arrested just prior to this incident, tipped us off,” a policeman told the court.
"It didn’t happen," said the defendant, as the charges of consuming illegal drugs and assaulting the officer were read out.
A verdict is expected on February 24.
