Al Hosn University students offered options to transfer without penalty

The Abu Dhabi-based university was barred by the MOE from enrolling new students

Al Hosn University students in Abu Dhabi have been given the chance to continue their studies at other universities after the Ministry of Education sanctioned the school for failing to meet standards.

The MOE said it brokered an agreement with Abu Dhabi University and Al Ain University for Science and Technology to facilitate the transfer equivalencies of students from Al Hosn University.

The ministry also reached out to the American University of Dubai, the Canadian University of Dubai, Ajman University and the University of Sharjah to offer Al Hosn students the option to transfer within certain majors without prejudicing their past earned credits.

Last year, Al Hosn University was one of three universities — including the University of Jazeera and University of Modern Sciences in Dubai — barred from enrolling new students for the upcoming academic year for failing to meet the required accreditation standards of the Ministry of Higher Education. Existing students were permitted to continue studying at the university until they graduated. Despite the sanctions, the MOE said it would recognise the degrees issues by Al Hosn University to its current students.
