Al Ayala dance added to Unesco cultural heritage list
Al Ayala dance art has been added to Unesco’s representative list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
This was announced during the ninth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which runs until November 28, at Unesco’s headquarters in Paris, after the file submitted by the UAE and Oman met all the inscription criteria.
This accomplishment joins other successes by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA) in inscribing falconry, Al Sadu and Al Taghrouda on Unesco’s most important global heritage list.
“Inscribing Al Ayala and other heritage elements on Unesco’s list will revitalise different types of traditional performing arts, shed more light on UAE’s cultural heritage and encourage cultural diversity, human creativity and intercultural dialogue”, said Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of TCA Abu Dhabi.
