AL AIN // Emiratis can now apply for one of 902 plots of newly released land just outside of the oasis city.

Mohamed Harb Al Kitbi, head of property management at Abu Dhabi Municipality, said the vacant plots would be given to eligible Emiratis.

He added that 49 Shabi homes in the Yahar area, just outside Al Ain, would also be distributed, as well as three pieces of land for investment and one piece of industrial land.

A municipality spokesman stressed that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was overseeing the process to ensure it was completed quickly. Previously, many had complained that land grants were processed too slowly.

The grants are part of a bigger project to hand property across Abu Dhabi emirate to 3,006 Emiratis, as ordered by the President Sheikh Khalifa in July.

"This decree comes as an emphasis from the President to provide living necessities and stable life for every Emirati," the spokesman said.
