Almost 150 prisoners have been released to celebrate Ramadan.
Ajman Ruler pardons inmates
Ajman's ruler, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid, has pardoned 141 prisoners as a gesture for Ramadan.
Ajman Police has started processing the inmates from punitive and correctional facilities.
They have all served half their sentences, according to Brigadier Ali Alwan, the director of Ajman Police.
Brigadier Alwan thanked Sheikh Humaid for his "humanitarian initiatives", which he said underlined the ruler's respect for human dignity and rights, regardless of nationality, colour, or race.
He said Sheikh Humaid's gesture promoted tolerance and would give the prisoners a chance to become good citizens.
