Union Properties on Thursday said air conditioning had been restored to affected areas of Motor City.
Residents were left sweating in the sweltering heat following a dispute between Union Properties, the service provider and the owners’ association that led to air conditioning being turned off in the common areas.
Residents said this also affected the temperatures in their apartments which they could not cool below 27°C or 28°C.
“We are pleased to announce that cooling services have been restored," Union Properties said. "Following an extended conversation with the Real Estate Regulatory Agency, Union Properties has this morning resolved the matter to everyone’s satisfaction and ensured that there will be no service disruption in the future," it said.
Union Properties had earlier denied they had any responsibility for the issues with air conditioning being switched off, saying the matter was between cooling provider Emicool and the home owners.
“We wish to place on record that Union Properties is not involved in operations of this matter as such operations are run by the owners’ association management entity Edacom, that is in active communication with the service provider and the relevant authorities to ensure a speedy resolution,” said a spokesman, who stated that Edacom, a subsidiary of Union Properties, only acted to facilitate payments from the home owners.
“While Edacom remains available to assist residents, we believe residents have the right to communicate their concerns to the relevant authorities, including Dubai Police in case the service provider disrupts services in the future.”
