Adnoc employees raise Dh1m to provide food during Ramadan
Campaign is in partnership with Emirates Red Crescent
Employees of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company have raised Dh1 million that has gone towards providing iftar meals and food packages to people in the UAE, as part of a Ramadan campaign organised with Emirates Red Crescent.
On Friday, Adnoc said its Ramadan initiative was part of its corporate social responsibility programmes "aimed at creating a positive and lasting social impact on local communities".
The company launched the scheme in April to help deliver food to low-income workers and families during the holy month. Typically, meals are distributed at Ramadan tents but, this year, physical distancing and other public health measures meant charities were unable to provide traditional assistance.
The food parcels, paid for by the Adnoc donations, were delivered by Emirates Red Crescent to beneficiaries instead.
Adnoc runs annual programmes during Ramadan to support communities in the UAE.
More than 1,500 of its employees have signed up as volunteers to help tackle the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak.
Staff are working with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority to support healthcare workers in the field and distribute vital supplies to the community.
The company has distributed 10,000 kits containing personal protective equipment including masks and gloves to local communities as part of the volunteers initiative.
