DUBAI // The 11th Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex) is fully booked, organisers have confirmed.
The four-day event will feature 50 new exhibitors and about 550 returning from previous years.
"We have over 50 countries represented in the 2013 edition of Adihex, such as the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, Turkey, China, Namibia, South Africa, Germany, Denmark, Spain, and Italy," said Abdulla Al Qubaisi, the exhibition director.
The exhibition is 100 per cent full, he added, with many companies still on the waiting list despite an increase in the total exhibition floor space.
The event, which showcases outdoor and marine sports, safari, arts and crafts and culture and heritage activities, has enjoyed steady growth in recent years.
The first exhibition featured 40 companies representing 14 countries, while the second and fourth editions saw the number of participants increase to 192 and 353, representing 21 and 36 countries respectively.
Adihex 2013 will host a variety of activities featuring birds of prey and Arabian Salukis, along with a demonstration of the skills of highly trained police dogs.
There will be equestrian shows displaying Emirati horsemanship, camel beauty contests and competitions with prizes worth up to Dh500,000.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, and Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
It is held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, and Emirates Falconers' Club.
The show is open from September 4 until September 7 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
