Abu Dhabi window cleaners die in 15th-floor fall tragedy
Two Asian window cleaners died yesterday after their platform fell from the 15th floor of a building on Khalifa Street in Abu Dhabi.
Both men were still alive and trapped when Civil Defence officers arrived but they died at the scene.
Officials are investigating.
The tragedy comes a week after two window cleaners had to be rescued after the rope supporting their platform snapped while they were working outside the 15th floor of a building in Abu Dhabi.
Police and Civil Defence secured the platform, at a building on Salam Street, before helping the two Asian men to safety down a rescue ladder.
The Capt Abdullah Al Tamimi, head of customer service and public relations at Civil Defence, urged companies to perform regular inspections and maintenance on window-cleaning platforms and cranes to ensure the safety of users and others.
