An Abu Dhabi school canteen was shut down after violating food safety regulations.

Food that was unfit for human consumption was discovered at ABC Private School, according to the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA).

Thamer Rashid Al Qasimi, from the ADAFSA, said food that should have been refrigerated was being kept at room temperature.

There was also no records found of the temperature food should have been stored at, when received from the supplier.

He said the canteen will remain closed until “appropriate steps were taken” as violations like this placed students at risk.

The school, in Shamkha on the outskirts of the city, has been contacted for comment.
